Click to see full size image. Click to see full size image. This wwii usaaf leather flight jacket was part of a collection i recently obtained. I had a couple errors in the original listing yesterday so i re-started it today. Sorry for any incovenience to those of you who ahd already bid.
Jacket exterior has no rips, tears or losses and is solid overall. Leather shell remains supple/pliable and shows average wear.
Waistband and cuffs have been replaced iwth original style components and are as new (see photos). Zipper run is the original conmar that continues to work smoothly (see photo). Snaps to collar and pocket flaps are present and function properly.
Right chest has period painted silver bombs indicating 17 missions flown nad left chest has the period painted name kaz (see photos). Remaining stitch marks to the chest area indicate that a squadron patch and namestrip were ermoved at some time in the past. To the reverse is a large period done painting of a b-17 with the name ksy anne above (see photos).
The painting is very well done and shows expected wear & fading (see photos). To the upper left sleeve remains a period painted leather 8th af patch (see photo). The stitching is loose or missing to abotu half the perimeter.
To both shoulders are period painted captain's bars (see photo). Lining shows average/heavy wear with some minor losses to the collar area (see photos).
The original nomenclature label is present to the collra area but lacks a named manufacturer having the aaf contract number instead (see label photo). Size is shown as 44 but jacket fits as a comfortable size 42.
The small leather hanging strap is present and solidly attached. The measurements are shoulder to shoulder across the back 19 inches, across the chest armpit to armpit 23.5 inches, sleeve length from upper seam 24.5 inches to end of the cuff material, overall height collar seam to end of waistband material 26 inches. This jacket is very clean and solid overall. It would be great for display or to wear. Guarantede an original wwii made/worn jacket with period done artwork.
